![]() ![]() It is described as "3656-803 L100 HEADSTOCK MT3 ADAPTOR SLEEVE" Fits perfectly. If it is the same then I have just purchased an adaptor direct from Boxford delivered for £30. CheersĪpologies in advance if your x10 has a different L00 head stock spindle to the one that the 500 VSL uses. ![]() My point is that you dont need a full-length MT4.5 sleeve because only a small part of its length engages in the spindle bore. However it might be possible to make an MT5 sleeve work by custom fitting the end to the extent it inserts into the spindle. The "thin" end of a MT5 is quite close in diameter but the taper-angle is wrong. (2) if you take the chuck off the spindle at the D1-3 camlock you will find that the taper-bore which the adapter sleeve inserts into is very short - only about 12mm long (hard to measure exactly). Note, the taper-angles of MT4, MT5 and (I assume) MT4.5 are all slightly different. This came about because 35mm spindle bore is too big for MT4 and MT5 would have required a much bigger spindle shaft (which would have allowed bigger bore). A couple of points to note: 1) there is no standard for MT4.5 - it is just "somewhere in-between" MT4 and MT5 - and where in-between was up to each manufacturer. ![]() The MT4.5 sleeve will allow MT3 collet holder, but this sacrifices a lot of the spindle bore. In due course I plan to make a fixed-centre with MT4.5 taper (no sleeve), but the main desire is to fit collets. The adapter sleeve on our STS 10.20 is also missing. ![]()
